Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSahyeonjeong Pavilion is a well that has been used for generations by descendants of the Sunheung An clan, who have long lived in the Sunheung area. It is said to be the well long used by An Seok, who lived here at the end of the Goryeo dynasty. Although he was offered a government post by the king, An Seok never took office, and instead raised his three sons — An Chuk, An Bo and An Jip — to be men of fine character in his home village. Later, in 1545, the first year of King Injong, Ju Se-bung, magistrate of Punggi, is said to have erected here a stele inscribed with the name "Sahyeonjeong" in honour of the virtue of these four men. In 1636, the fourteenth year of King Injo, An Eung-chang, a descendant of the Sunheung An clan, wrote a new inscription and had the stele remade, and in 1821, the twenty-first year of King Sunjo, An Seong-yeon built the stele pavilion that stands today.
