This is the grave of Bak Gwang-u (1495–1545), a civil official of the mid-Joseon period. It was originally located in Osan-ri, Jori-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do, and was moved to its present site in 1977. In front of the burial mound stands a stone offering table, and to its left is an epitaph stone composed by Song Si-yeol in 1687. Before the offering table are stone figures of a civil official and child attendants, together with a pair of ornamental stone pillars (mangju-seok). There are also a monument recording Bak Gwang-u's life and a stone lantern, both erected in recent times. Bak Gwang-u's clan seat was Sangju; his courtesy name was Gugi, his pen names were Piljae and Jamsodang, and his posthumous title was Munjeong. He was born in Osan-ri, Jori-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do, and passed the civil service examination in 1525, the 20th year of King Jungjong, going on to serve as magistrate of Jaeryeong, governor of Gangneung, royal secretary (sagan), and royal lecturer (jijegyo). He is said to have been exceptionally filial from childhood and unable to tolerate injustice. Bak Gwang-u's grave follows the typical burial practice of the Joseon period, and is valued as important material together with the coffin and folk artefacts recovered when the grave was relocated.
