정운충신각 · 鄭運忠臣閣

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis pavilion was built to honour the achievements of General Jeong Un, posthumously titled Chungjanggong, a loyal subject during the Japanese invasions of 1592–98. General Jeong Un was a military official of mid-Joseon who passed the military examination in 1570, the third year of King Seonjo, and served as magistrate of Ungcheon and other posts. When the Japanese invasions began in 1592, the 25th year of King Seonjo, he achieved great merit under the command of Yi Sun-sin, and died in battle at the Naval Battle of Busanpo that September. The pavilion measures three kan across the front and one kan in depth, and its roof, a gabled matbae roof, is shaped like the character 人 (person) when viewed from the side.
