진천 홍우경・정인옹주 묘소 · 鎭川 洪友敬・貞仁翁主 墓所

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is the grave of Jeonggan-gong Hong U-gyeong (1590–1625), son-in-law of King Seonjo, and his wife Princess Jeongin. In 1603, the 36th year of King Seonjo's reign, Hong U-gyeong married Princess Jeongin, King Seonjo's fourth daughter, and was invested as Dangwonwi (唐原尉), later rising to the rank of Bongheondaebu. However, in 1618, the tenth year of King Gwanghaegun's reign, when the debate arose over deposing the queen mother, he stopped eating and gave up sleep, and submitted a memorial denouncing the conspiracy of Yi I-cheom and Han Chan-nam; instead, he himself was branded a traitor, stripped of his official rank, and exiled. His rank was restored after the Injo Restoration of 1623, and when he died in 1625 at the age of thirty-six he was posthumously invested as Surokdaebu. The grave site today has two burial mounds set side by side, each ringed at the base with a border of stones. In front stand a memorial stone and a pair of stone child-attendant figures, together with a jangmyeongdeung (a stone lantern placed before a tomb), while a pair of mangju pillars and a pair of stone civil officials stand to either side.
