Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis building is the house where Park Chung-hee (1917–1979), who served as the fifth to ninth President of Korea, was born. Born on 14 November 1917 as the youngest of seven children — five sons and two daughters — of his father, Park Seong-bin, and his mother, Baek Nam-ui, he lived here until he graduated from Gumi Elementary School and, in 1937, Daegu Normal School. In the lower house where the President was born, two ondol (heated-floor) rooms sit one behind the other on the left, while on the right are a mill room and a cattle shed, each one bay wide; the front ondol room is the room where President Park studied.
