It now lies within the Army's scientific combat training ground, which began operating in 2006, and is currently managed by the Ministry of National Defense. Choe Si-hyeong (pen name Haewol), the second patriarch of Donghak, set up the woodblock-carving workshop at the house of Kim Hyeon-su in Gapdun-ri, Inje, on 9 May 1880. He began the printing work on 11 May and completed the Donggyeong Daejeon on 14 June. This was the first scripture of Donghak, known as the Gyeongjin edition of the Donggyeong Daejeon; more than a hundred copies were distributed throughout the country, and over the course of the 1880s it was expanded and reprinted in various editions, becoming established as the standard scripture of Donghak.
