Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is the grave of Song In, a meritorious subject under King Injong of Goryeo and founding ancestor of the Jincheon Song clan. In the fourth year of King Injong (1126), during the Rebellion of Yi Ja-gyeom, Song In was killed by the rebel forces of Cheok Jun-gyeong while guarding the king. After the rebellion had ended, he rose to Pyeongjangsa, the highest office of the Goryeo government. Song In held the post of "Jincheon-baek"; at that time the title "baek" denoted a high office responsible for all matters of a locality's administration, justice and economy. While serving as Jincheon-baek, he worked day and night so that the people of the locality could live in greater comfort, and he handled all matters fairly. He also placed great importance on courteous conduct and took a keen interest in children's education, so that the sound of reading rang out clearly wherever one went in the village, and other localities are said to have greatly envied Jincheon as a result. Song In's grave is located in Duchon-ri, Deoksan-myeon, and is notable for being built in a square shape, a distinctive style of the Goryeo period. The tomb precinct contains an offering table for ancestral rites, a stone figure of a boy attendant, and a memorial stele.
