This is the joint grave of Yi Jeong (1297–1361), a civil official of late Goryeo, and his wife. In 1325, the twelfth year of King Chungsuk of Goryeo, he was appointed panggwan (administrator) of the Palgwanbo, the agency managing funds for the Palgwan Buddhist festival, through eumseo, the privilege of hereditary appointment, and the following year he passed the munkwa civil service examination. He went on to hold a succession of offices, rising in 1358 to Minister of Justice. Enjoying King Gongmin's particular favour, he supervised the construction of the Naebuldang, a Buddhist shrine within the palace, and received from the king a commendation in the king's own hand entitled "Tansanghagyomun" (an edict of praise and admiration). All his relatives rose to high office, and during the period when Yi Seong-gye held power after his withdrawal of troops from Wihwado Island, they were an influential faction of support and gave great assistance to the founding of Joseon. The grave shows the trapezoidal form characteristic of late Goryeo tombs, and in front of it stand a gravestone and an offering table. The gravestone is remarkably well preserved in its original form, making it a valuable source. Below the grave stands a sindobi, a stele set up beside a road near a tomb to commemorate the lifetime achievements of a king or high official; its inscription was composed by Gwon Geun.
