Cheonhosanseong Fortress
천호산성 · 天壺山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krCheonhosanseong is a temoe-style mountain fortress — one that encloses only the mountain's summit — built of stone around the top of Mount Cheonhosan in Yeosan-myeon, Iksan, North Jeolla Province. The fortress wall is 669 m in circumference and 5–6 m wide, and some surviving sections stand more than 2.5 m high. Although much of it has collapsed, the overall outline of the fortress remains fairly clearly visible. Baekje-style eave-end roof tiles (sumaksae) and earthenware fragments have been found around the fortress, suggesting it was a Baekje fortification, and it holds documentary value for understanding fortress-construction methods of the period.
