Sinan Dochang-ri Ancient Tree
신안도창리노거수 · 新安道昌里老巨樹
Provincial Monument

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Dochang-ri old tree grove was planted about 300 years ago, both as a windbreak against the cold winter wind and to screen the village's grain storehouse from view. It originally ran for about 1 km from northeast to southwest around the village, but today only 352 m survives. The grove contains 86 trees in all: 61 hackberries (paengnamu) around 200 years old, 9 black pines, 8 Korean honey locusts, 5 trees of heaven, and 3 castor aralias. Apart from the trees of heaven, all are native species that have long grown in this region.
