Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThese are five tombs situated on the top of a low hill. The mounds stand about 1 m high and are roughly rectangular, around 13 m long. Excavation revealed, within the mounds and the surrounding ditches, 12 jar-coffin burials (ongwanmyo), 6 stone-lined burials (seokgwanmyo) and 2 pit burials (togwangmyo). These tombs, belonging to the ruling class of the Mahan confederacy, are of great historical importance, and their moated form — burials encircled by a dug ditch — shows a close connection with ancient Japan.
