Oryangseong Fortress, in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, was built in 1500, the sixth year of King Yeonsangun of Joseon. It is 1,172 m in circumference, 2.61 m high and about 5 m wide, and its northern and western sections remain in good condition. Like the nearby Sadeungseong and Goheonseong fortresses, it was built by laying large stones at the base and stacking smaller stones above them. Inside the fortress is mostly a village of houses, while outside it is used as rice paddies. The fortress is an important source of evidence for studying the form of fortresses from the early Joseon period onward.
