Naju Yeongmojeong Pavilion
나주영모정 · 羅州永慕亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krYeongmojeong is a pavilion built by Im Bung (1486–?) in 1520, the 15th year of King Jungjong. It was first named Gwiraejeong after his pen name, but when his descendants rebuilt it in 1555, the 10th year of King Myeongjong, they renamed it Yeongmojeong. It was also a place where Im Je, styled Baekho, a grandson of Im Bung and a celebrated literary figure of the Joseon period, composed poetry and met with others. The present building was rebuilt in 1982. It is three bays across the front and two bays deep, with a hip-and-gable roof that, seen from the side, takes the shape of the character 八 (eight). The leftmost bay is an ondol room with underfloor heating, and the remaining two bays are floored with wooden boards. Built relatively long ago, Yeongmojeong illustrates the architectural conventions of a traditional pavilion.
