Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis was the home of Kim Jin (pen name Cheonggye), and it was his great-grandson Kim Si-on (pen name Pyoeun) who named it Donganjae and had the name inscribed on its signboard. Donganjae is a gable-roofed, tile-roofed house, three kan (structural bays) wide and one kan deep. Its plan is of the jungdang-hyeopsil type, with a wooden-floored central hall flanked by heated ondol rooms on either side; board walls were set across the front of the hall to enclose it as a wooden-floored room, and the timber frame is a simple three-purlin, single-eaved structure. The jusa, or kitchen quarters, stands as a separate compound to the rear right of the hall, made up of an L-shaped kitchen building four kan wide and three kan deep, together with a straight three-kan storehouse.
