Dolmen in Seoktan-ri, Okcheon
옥천 석탄리 고인돌 · 沃川 石灘里 支石墓

Dolmens are one of the burial forms of the Bronze Age, of three kinds: the table-type (northern-style), which places the body above ground; the go-board type (southern-style), which places it below ground; and the capstone type, in which the body is buried underground with only a capstone laid over it. The Okcheon dolmen is a table-type dolmen, originally formed by standing slab stones on four sides and laying a long, flat capstone on top; today the front and back slabs have disappeared and only the two side slabs remain. Artefacts found here include a grinding stone, stone hinges, a stone dagger, stone arrowheads, net weights, a perforator, a carved face depicting a woman, and pottery. As most of the artefacts relate to food preparation, the person buried here is thought to have been a woman.
