Mugye-ri Dolmen, Gimhae
김해 무계리지석묘 · 金海 茂溪里支石墓

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis dolmen stands on flat land north of Daecheongcheon Stream in Mugye-ri, Jangyu-myeon, Gimhae. The area containing the dolmen and an old tree has been enclosed by a separate stone embankment to protect them, and is also used by villagers as a resting place. Local people called this dolmen "Gwangseok," meaning "ore stone." It is thought to be a southern-style dolmen, but because the ground beneath the capstone has been filled in, its exact structure could not be confirmed. Above ground only the huge capstone remains; only its northern end is slightly raised, while the rest is buried under earth and stone. The capstone measures 6.1 m in length, 2.9 m in width and 1.1–1.3 m in thickness, with its long axis running north–south. It is likely to have had the same structure as the Mugye-ri dolmen surveyed nearby in November 1964. No artefacts were found, and it could not be established whether the dolmen's substructure had been damaged.
