Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is an earthen fortress encircling a low peak 60 m above sea level in Eunsan-myeon, Buyeo-gun, South Chungcheong Province; it is divided into an inner wall and an outer wall. An earthen fortress is one built by piling up earth for its walls while also cutting the natural slope of the hillside more steeply to serve as part of the wall. The circumference is about 180 m for the inner wall and about 250 m for the outer wall. Most of the outer wall has been cleared for farmland and levelled, while the inner wall retains its earthen form in part, and to the north there is a ditch, a watercourse 5–6 m wide. Beneath a rock face at the southwestern foot of the fortress stands a shrine, where the legend of the Eunsan Byeolsinje, a ritual festival connected to the Baekje Restoration Army, has been passed down.
