Geumsan Mountain Mokjangseong Fortress, Namhae
KOGL Type 1Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.kr

This fortress wall in Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, was built by piling up natural stones. A jangseong, or "long wall", is a fortification raised along a border to guard against enemy invasion. Its construction method is unusual, making it a rare form of fortress nationwide; it measures 150 m in circumference and 1–2 m in height. The sections of wall running through paddies and fields have been largely destroyed and are now hard to make out, but the sections within the wooded hills remain in good condition. The fortress is presumed to have been built for military purposes in the late Goryeo or early Joseon period.
