The tombs are found scattered across the slopes of Ojeongsan Mountain, where Samnyeonsanseong Fortress stands, and comprise large earthen-mound tombs 15–20m across, medium-sized stone-chamber tombs about 10m in diameter, and numerous small stone-lined pit tombs. According to a surface survey, this is the largest Silla tumuli cluster in the central region of Korea. Judging from artefacts recovered from the surface, the tombs are presumed to have been built in the 5th to 6th centuries, the period when Samnyeonsanseong Fortress was in active use.
