The beacon site on Daerimsan Mountain, Chungju, sits atop the mountain's summit and is one of 23 inland beacon sites (naeji bongsu) surviving in Chungcheongbuk-do, along with those on Jujeongsan Mountain and Geotdaesan Mountain. Alongside the Daerimsan beacon stands Daerimsan Mountain Fortress, Chungju (Monument No. 110), the site of a Goryeo-period victory during the resistance against the Mongols. The beacon system is a valuable record of the military communication methods used to defend the state during the Joseon period, and this site formed part of a signal chain running in the direction of Jujeongsan – Daerimsan – Masan – Gaseopsan Mountain in Eumseong. Excavation revealed five yeonjo — hearths built for lighting beacon fires — along with dwelling sites, among other features.
