Dangjin Sillidabeulrwijugyo Bridge Historic Site
당진신리다블뤼주교유적지 · 唐津新里다블뤼主敎遺蹟址

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis was the site of one of the early Catholic mission stations (gongso) of the Naepo region, and the place where Bishop Daveluy, Father Aumaître, Father Huin, Hwang Seok-du and others were arrested and martyred during the Byeongin Persecution of Catholics in 1866; it is a historic site connected with five Catholic saints, including Son Ja-son. Bishop Daveluy was the fifth Vicar Apostolic of the Joseon Vicariate, so the Silli gongso effectively served as the actual seat of the Joseon vicariate. The gongso building was originally the birth house of Son Ja-son; renovation work established that it was built in 1815, and it was newly restored in 1964. Thirty-two martyrs who died in the Byeongin Persecution are buried at the site. With the Catholic Church's restoration projects proceeding actively in recent years, the site has become a popular destination for pilgrimage tourism.
