This black pine is about 300 years old. It stands 14m tall, with a trunk circumference of 4m at chest height, and a crown spread of 11.9m to the east, 13m to the west, 14m to the south and 12.6m to the north; it is in good health. Until Korea's liberation, a dangsanje, a village ritual, was held here every year on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month to pray for the village's peace and a good harvest, making it a tree of real significance, and together with the surrounding trees it serves as a windbreak against the north-westerly winds.
