Munamsanseong Fortress, Haman
함안 문암산성 · 咸安 門巖山城

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis mountain fortress in Haman-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, survives in two parts: on Jangwonbong Peak (197 m above sea level) on Jagusan Mountain, and on the summit of a 167 m peak linked to it toward the north-west. The two are known respectively as the Greater and Lesser Fortresses of Munam. The wall runs for a total of 1,100 m and survives in good condition except for a section in the south-east; the wall is estimated to have been generally about 3 m wide. The Greater Fortress was built running in a roughly oval circuit around the eight-tenths line of Jangwonbong Peak's ridge, with the outer face built of stone and the inner face finished plainly with earth and rubble.
