A bingo is an artificial cold-storage facility built to keep ice that had frozen naturally in winter for use in summer. The Ungcheon Binggoji site in Jinhae is laid out lengthwise along a mountain ridge in a north–south direction. The ice chamber measures about 16 m long, 6 m wide and 3 m deep; its inner walls were built up in eight or nine courses of stones roughly 90 cm wide and 30 cm high. The ceiling and the north wall are badly damaged, so the exact structure is not known, but the ceiling alone is presumed to have been built in an arched, rainbow-like shape. The facility is thought to have been built during the Joseon period.
