This is a group of four large tombs lined up in a row on the western slope near the summit of Namsan Mountain in Uiryeong-eup. All had long since been looted, leaving their stone chambers exposed and their earthen mounds badly collapsed, when they were excavated in 1993. The excavation revealed that the interior of Tomb No. 1 is a pit-style stone-lined tomb (suhyeolsik seokgwakmyo), and that Tomb No. 4 is a tunnel-entrance stone-chamber tomb (hoenghyeolsik seoksilmyo). The Jungdong-ri tombs in Uiryeong are remains of great value, providing material that can shed new light on the ancient history of this region.
