Naju Jangchunjeong Pavilion
나주장춘정 · 羅州藏春亭

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krJangchunjeong is a yusil-hyeong pavilion — a type with an enclosed room rather than an open floor — built in a scenic spot near the village. It was first built in 1561 by Yu Chung-jeong (1509–1574) of the Goheung Yu clan, and was later repaired in 1818 and 1930; it is an old building that has been well preserved in its original form. Its structural members are thick and its frame sturdy, and the timber has been finely finished. The refinement of the building can be seen in the u-mulmaru (well-frame) flooring of its main hall, its lattice-patterned windows, and its fan rafters and hwalju support posts. Historically too, given the circumstances of its construction and the standing of the literary figures who centred their activities here — Song Sun (pen name Myeonang), Im Eok-ryeong (Seokcheon), O Sang (Wongi), Im Bok (Pungam), Bak Sun (Saam), Gi Dae-seung (Gobong), Bak Gwang-il (Sonjae) and Im Je (Baekho) — Jangchunjeong can be regarded as a representative pavilion of the Yeongsangang River region.
