Namsan Beacon Station, located at the summit of Jongnamsan Mountain, no longer retains the mound on which the beacon fires were lit, but many stones and fragments of earthenware, porcelain and roof tiles used at the beacon facility are scattered about. Some of the earthenware fragments date to the Three Kingdoms period, suggesting that the site had been used from an early period as an altar for offering rites to heaven. Below the summit are the remains of a building associated with the beacon station. It is an important scholarly resource for the study of Joseon-period beacon stations.
