Beacon Station on Gamaksan Mountain, Uiryeong
의령 가막산 봉수대 · 宜寧 可莫山 烽燧臺

Gamaksan Beacon Station, located at the western summit of Gamaksan Mountain, looks southeast toward Pasan Beacon Station in Haman and the point where the Namgang and Nakdonggang Rivers meet, and northwest toward Mitasan Beacon Station. The station is confirmed to have had an oval stone wall built of natural stones stacked three to four courses high, about 30 cm high in all, and many fragments of earthenware, roof tiles and porcelain are found in the surrounding area. The core facilities, such as the hearth and the installation used to raise smoke, have been badly damaged in later periods and can no longer be identified. About 6 metres from the stone wall, one course below it, are the remains of a building thought to have served as barracks for the beacon guards. It is an important scholarly resource for the study of Joseon-period beacon stations.
