Dolmen Group in Sansu-ri, Yeosu
여수 산수리 지석묘군 · 麗水 山水里 支石墓群

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe Dolmen Group in Sansu-ri, Yeosu, comprises two groups in Sindae Village, which straddles the boundary between Yeosu and Suncheon, and one further group in Suncheon. Of the six dolmens at Wangbawijae, the largest has a capstone 8.65m long. Dolmens located 500m from this site form a circle of twenty-one stones amid the paddy fields in front of Yulchon Branch School. Together with the lute-shaped bronze daggers (bipa-hyeong dongkeom) and jade ornaments recovered intensively in the Yeosu region, these remains attest to the existence of considerable power and wealth there. The Sinwol Dolmen Group in Suncheon (four dolmens), which lies on the boundary between Yeosu and Suncheon, was designated together with the main group under the name 'Dolmen Group in Sansu-ri, Yeosu'. In 2008 Yeosu City asked Jeollanam-do Province to consider removing the Sinwol dolmens in Suncheon from the designation, but the province did not do so, instead leaving them under Suncheon City's management.
