This is the tomb of Son Yu-ho, a figure of the late Goryeo to early Joseon period; the grave survives together with one stone offering table (sangseok), two stone civil-official statues (muninseok) and one memorial stele (myobi). Son Yu-ho was born in 1372, during the Goryeo period. In 1410 he was appointed Seollyak janggun, a senior fourth-rank military post, and given command of government troops at Dumo-po, and in 1419 he took part in the expedition against Tsushima. He later retired to his hometown to care for his ailing father, and died in 1448 at the age of seventy-seven. The tomb precinct as a whole is arranged in three tiers: the grave and the offering table occupy the upper tier; the civil-official statues stand to the east and west on the middle tier; and the memorial stele stands to the east on the lower tier. The grave is a typical square-shaped mound of the early Joseon period. In front of it stands the offering table, carved in one piece together with its drum-shaped supporting stones (goseok) rather than as separate pieces; unusually, the faces of guardian spirits are carved on the left and right at the front of these stones. The two civil-official statues face each other on either side and are identical in form, though somewhat worn; they wear official caps and hold ceremonial tablets (hol), with the folds of their robes rendered in the carving. The memorial stele bears an inscription only on its front face, recording in relatively full detail Son Yu-ho's lineage, his dates of birth and death, his achievements, his descendants, and a memorial tribute by the author. The stele was erected in 1450, with the text written by Bak Uk, who had served as a saye (instructor) at Seonggyungwan, the state Confucian academy. The site as a whole is well preserved and is regarded as important material for the study of early Joseon tomb customs.
