The Danseong Sajikdan Altar, judging from its location, its method of construction and its institutional form, shows the shape of a local sajikdan altar — an altar where rites were held to the deities of soil and grain — built in the early Joseon Dynasty. The form of the altar survives clearly on its eastern, western and southern sides, and at the centre of each of these sides remains a three-tiered stone stairway. Not only does it well preserve the original form it had when built in the early Joseon Dynasty, it is also almost the only sajikdan altar surviving within the province, and the two spirit tablets enshrined there are likewise of long standing.
