Gang Guk-heung Burial Ground, Sancheong
산청 강국흥 묘역 · 山淸 姜國興 墓域

This is a group of three tombs belonging to Gang Guk-heung, his wife of the Boseong Seon clan, and Gang Haeng. The three tombs are rectangular in plan. Their retaining stones were built by first laying flat base stones at the bottom, then stacking flat stone slabs vertically in a stepped-in manner, and finishing with flat stones laid horizontally on top; unusually, the upper stones at the four corners of the retaining stones are shaped like roof stones. Taking the uppermost tomb, that of Gang Guk-heung, as the reference point, below it lies the tomb of his wife of the Boseong Seon clan, and below that again the tomb of Gang Guk-heung's son, Gang Haeng; the main axis shifts slightly to the left as the tombs descend from top to bottom. The form of the tombs and their stone furnishings provide valuable material for understanding early Joseon-period burial customs in the Jinju and Sancheong region.
