Du-jeong armour, a type of protective garment reinforced with riveted iron plates, developed during the late Joseon period, and only a few examples survive today. This armour and helmet are said to have been worn as ceremonial dress at memorial rites held for Yun Heung-sin and the officials, soldiers and civilians who died fighting Japanese forces during the Imjin War; however, the presence of iron plates inside the armour suggests it is more likely to have been made for actual combat. Not only is it an artefact imbued with the loyalty of this region's patriots who gave their lives for the country, it is also valuable material showing the form of armour and helmets from the late Joseon period, providing considerable help to the study of Korea's military official attire (mugwanbok).
