This is the head house (jongga) of the Songgok branch of the Pyeongsan Sin clan, built in the mid-19th century. It originally stood in Yean-myeon, and the building now standing here was relocated in 1975 because of the construction of Andong Dam. It measures four kan across the front and four kan on the side, with a square, closed-courtyard main house as its basic form, flanked on each side by a one-kan sarang floor, the men's quarters. Making the inner room, floored hall and upper room into four kan each is a layout rarely seen in the Andong region, and placing the study between the men's quarters and the floored hall reflects an arrangement that gave weight to scholarship. To the right, separate from the main house, stands the Songgokjae. On the whole, the building preserves well the form of an old upper-class house of the Andong region.
