This house preserves well the appearance of a traditional upper-class residence; around 1915 the gate quarters (daemunchae), main house (anchae) and shed building (heotganchae) were rebuilt on their original site. The gate hall has three bays, and passing through the main gate in the centre bay leads to the sarang-madang, the men's-quarters courtyard, laid out with various trees and a square pond. The sarangchae, or men's quarters, is built in a straight line, with a wide two-bay wooden floor (maru) at its right end, following the traditional floor plan of this region. The anchae, or women's quarters, is likewise built in a straight line; the sarangchae and anchae are separated by a wall, with a middle gate (jungmun) connecting them. Overall, the timber used throughout is slender and the layout of the sarangchae has changed in ways typical of the period after 1910, yet the house still retains the traditional residential style well.
