Gayajinsa Temple, Yangsan
양산 가야진사 · 伽倻津祠

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a shrine dedicated to the spirit of the ferry crossing (jinsin), built at the site of a ferry once used when Silla forces crossed to conquer Gaya. The building has one bay at the front and one bay to the side, and is a wooden structure roofed with a matbae roof, whose roofline, seen from the side, resembles the Chinese character 人 (person). Inside stands an altar table used for rites, on which rests a painting of a three-headed dragon. The present shrine is said to have been built in 1406, the sixth year of King Taejong of Joseon, and stands as a fine old building illustrating Korean folk belief. Villagers still hold rites here today, and in times of severe summer drought they also perform rain-prayer rites.
