Yun Hwang Historic House
윤황선생고택 · 尹황先生古宅
Provincial Folklore Heritage

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis house was moved to its present site during the reign of King Yeongjo of Joseon by Yun Jeong-jin, the sixth-generation descendant of Yun Hwang (1572–1639), and has been handed down since as the head house of the family. It consists of a straight, one-line men's quarters and an L-shaped main hall, together forming an overall square (ㅁ-shaped) plan. All the roofs are hipped-and-gabled (paljak) roofs, whose roofline resembles the Chinese character for "eight" (八) when seen from the side. Simply built, this old traditional house preserves well the characteristics of the central region.
