This is one of five bangsatap standing to the south of Gorwan Village. A bangsatap is a stone tower raised communally by a village where an ominous sign appeared in a particular direction, or where the geomantic energy of the land was considered weak; it is an object of folk belief meant to keep out impurity and evil and so bring peace to the village. Because the direction from which evil energy was thought to approach Gorwan Village is the south, the villagers built four towers side by side, running east to west, just south of the checkpoint, and a fifth a little further to the south. On top of this tower lies a stone of strange, grotesque shape, facing north.
