Bangye Yunungnyeol Villa
반계 윤웅렬 별장 · 磻溪 尹雄烈 別莊

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis house stands on raised ground, with a gate building (haengnang-daemunchae) at the front and, inside it, the sarangchae (men's quarters) and anchae (women's quarters). The gate building has a single-row plan; its second bay from the right connects directly to the sarangchae. The sarangchae is made up of a run of interconnecting rooms, with a narrow wooden veranda (toenmaru) attached along the west side. The anchae stands to the north-east of the gate building, with a daecheong (open wooden-floored hall) flanked on either side by a geonneonbang (room across the hall) and the anbang (main bedroom). South of the anbang are a kitchen and a room, and behind the sarangchae and anchae a narrow inner passage leads out to the garden. Although not particularly old, the house has a well-arranged anchae and garden, and shows the characteristics of an early stage in the gradual modernisation of the traditional hanok. ※ The designated name was changed from "Buam-dong Yun Eung-ryeol Daegamga" (daegam being an honorific title for a senior official) to "Bangye Yunungnyeol Villa" (6 July 2006).
