Provincial Folklore Heritage

The coast of the Boryeong area has a large tidal range, so for generations fishermen there have practised the traditional method of setting weirs across the tidal flats to catch fish. Among these, a weir built of stones piled up on the flat is called a doksal. Ten doksal once stood in Doksan-ri, but all have been destroyed except for this one, which alone retains its original form. Originally two separate doksal, they have since been joined into a single structure, with the northern wing about 70 m long and the southern wing about 100 m long.
