Jaksangu Lecture Hall and Jusa
작산구강당및주사 · 鵲山舊講堂및廚舍

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis was built in 1480, the 11th year of King Seongjong of Joseon, to honour the virtue of Songan-gun Yi Ja-su, and consists of a lecture hall where later students studied and a jusa, the hall where memorial rites were held in his honour. The lecture hall measures five bays across the front and two bays deep, and stands on raised ground to the left of the site. Seen from the side, its roofline resembles the shape of the character 八 (eight); it is a hipped-and-gabled (paljak) roof building, with the central three bays forming a daecheong (wood-floored hall) and the end bays on either side fitted out as ondol-heated rooms. The jusa is a building with a square (ㅁ-shaped) floor plan. This is a place where one can sense both the tradition of a man of deep virtue and the simple, typical house forms of this region.
