Seosan Yu Gi-bang House
서산유기방가옥 · 瑞山유기방家屋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThe house faces south, set against a low hill thick with pine forest. To the north stands the straight-line (ㅡ-shaped) anchae (women's quarters), with the haengnangchae (servants' quarters) to the west; to the east, a dividing wall from the anchae and a house built in recent years together form the inner yard. To the right of the anchae, the L-shaped sarangchae (men's quarters) and haengnangchae face one another. Originally there was a middle-gate building in front of the anchae, but this was demolished in 1988 and the present pavilion-style gate building was put up in its place. The men's quarters yard and the inner yard are divided by a wall; the rear wall in particular curves round following the steep slope, and is an earthen wall topped with rafters and roof tiles. The timber frame used to build up the earthen wall still survives today.
