This house was built by Yun Ui-seon, husband of Princess Deokon, the third daughter of King Sunjo. It was built in the second year of Emperor Gojong, 1865, and consists of a U-shaped main hall, an L-shaped sarangchae (men's quarters), a U-shaped servants' quarters with a middle gate (jungmungan haengnangchae), a U-shaped annex, and a straight detached pavilion (byeoldang). Entering through the middle gate, the main hall faces the inner courtyard. Centred on the main daecheong (wooden-floored hall), there is a room across the hall to the right, which turns at a right angle into a sequence of a kitchen with a fire-pit, a wooden floor, and the sleeping quarters connected to the sarangchae. To the left of the daecheong are an upper room and the main bedroom, which turn to meet a kitchen and a pantry floor. The detached pavilion stands on the plot to the left of the main hall. The sarangchae is entered through a small side gate to the right of the servants' quarters, and consists of a large sarang room, a daecheong, a small sarang room and sleeping quarters; the sleeping quarters connect to the main hall, and the annex stands to the north of the small sarang room. Overall, the guest rooms tucked into the corners of the courtyard are arranged irregularly, giving variety to the large space, and the house creates a settled atmosphere according to the direction from which it is viewed.
