Ojakdang Hall, Sangju
상주 오작당 · 尙州 悟昨堂

This house was built by Jo Jeong (1555–1636), who served as a righteous-army commander during the Japanese invasions of Korea. It was first built in 1601, the thirty-fourth year of King Seonjo, then relocated to its present site in 1661, the second year of King Hyeonjong. Originally a building of some 40-odd bays, it was partly dismantled during construction work in 1781, the fifth year of King Jeongjo, and today only the anchae (main house), sarangchae (men's quarters) and a family shrine remain. Some of the building's construction techniques preserve an older style, and it is thought to predate the nearby Yangjindang Hall (a state-designated Treasure), a point that has drawn particular attention.
