O Yeong-sun House
오영순가옥 · 吳永順家屋

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krThis is a thatched-roof house facing south-east at the foot of Wanggaesan Mountain. The sarangchae (men's quarters) and anchae (main house) stand parallel to each other, while a detached annexe that once stood to the right has been demolished, leaving only its site. The anchae, unusually large for this area, is thought to have been built in the mid-19th century, and the kitchen appears to have been extended in the early 20th century. The sarangchae has had a wall built across the front of its veranda and aluminium sashes installed, which sits poorly with the traditional atmosphere of the anchae. Despite the extension to the kitchen and later repairs, the house retains its original form relatively well.
