An old house set against the innermost hedge of Hangae Village, also known as "Donggwak-daek." It is said to have been first built in 1767, the forty-third year of King Yeongjo, by Yi Min-geom, and rebuilt in 1866, the third year of Emperor Gojong, by the Neo-Confucian scholar Hanju Yi Jin-sang. The house can be divided into the section containing the pavilion known as Hanjujeongsa, and the anchae and sarangchae. A side gate and a single-pillar gate were placed between the pavilion and the anchae to allow passage. The anchae, comprising the main hall, a storage wing, a lower wing, and the gate building, forms an open square layout enclosing the inner courtyard. The sarangchae stands as a separate, independent building. Beside the pavilion, a neat square pond was dug and trees planted to form a garden. The house well reflects the characteristics of the region, retains its original form in good condition, and harmonises with the surrounding landscape.
