This is the head house of the Goesipa branch of the Yeongyang Nam clan, standing at the very centre of Hoji Village. It is said to have been first built by Nam Bung-ik in the late seventeenth century, and consists of a main house and a shrine, the shrine having been built about 80 years ago. The square (ㅁ-shaped) women's quarters has the men's quarters projecting from its right side, with a scale of eight bays across the front and five-and-a-half bays on the side. In the women's quarters, centred on the main hall, the main room and kitchen are to the left, and the upper room and kitchen to the right; the upper room was originally a half-bay wooden floor later converted into a room. The men's quarters consists of a reception room and a wooden floor. The shrine is set well apart, off to the right of the main house. Though there have been some interior alterations, the building retains well the house structure of the late Joseon period.
