This is an old house built around 1620 by Dowa Park Seon (1596–1669). When first built, Park Seon constructed it on a scale of 99 kan (bays, a traditional unit measuring the space between four pillars), but the original buildings were all lost to two fires, and the buildings standing today are said to have been rebuilt at a later date. The complex includes the main hall along with a family shrine, Gyeongnyeomjeong Pavilion, Ilseongje, and other structures. Gyeongnyeomjeong and Ilseongje were relocated in 1925 to a site 100m from the house, where they remain today. On the earthen wall of Chunghyodang survives the calligraphy of Sumeun Park Chun-su, a celebrated calligrapher of the Joseon period. Because he is said to have written it on the wall one night by moonlight, it is known as "Wolyabyeokseo" (Wall-writing under the Moon).
