Hwagiriindong Jang Clan Head House
화기리인동장씨종택 · 花岐里仁同張氏宗宅

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krJang Eon-sang (1529–1609), a descendant of Jang Mal-son — one of the meritorious subjects honoured under King Sejo of Joseon for suppressing a rebellion — settled on this site and built a house here. His descendants prospered and the village grew into a clan settlement of the Indong Jang lineage. The sarangchae (men's quarters) and anchae (women's quarters) together form a quadrangular, courtyard-style layout, yet each is built as an independent structure, giving the house an unusual floor plan. At the rear stand a shrine enshrining Jang Mal-son's spirit tablet and a hall for preserving relics. The relic hall houses a portrait, royal documents and other old papers designated as treasures. The building retains much of its appearance from the time it was built.
