Pungsallyussisudongjaesa Temple
풍산류씨수동재사 · 豊山柳氏水洞齋舍

Korea Heritage Service · khs.go.krSudongjaesa was originally built as a jaesa (ritual house) to guard the grave of Seoae Yu Seong-ryong (1542–1607). According to the "Record of the Sangnojae" (霜露齋記) in the Collected Works of Yucheon (柳川先生遺稿), compiled by his son Yu Cho, the jaesa was founded in 1611, the third year of King Gwanghaegun's reign and the fifth year after Yu Seong-ryong's death, with the help of a monk named Po-u, and a board bearing the name "Sangnojae" (霜露齋) was hung there. The jaesa is presumed to have been repaired several times afterwards, but owing to a lack of records, including any account of such repairs, its detailed history cannot be traced. However, Yu Seong-ryong's grave was later relocated by his grandson, Joljae Yu Won-ji (1598–1678), and Yu Won-ji's own grave was built on the original site; Sudongjaesa continues to serve its function as a jaesa to this day.
